What is Swarovski Crystal?
In 1892 a man called Daniel Swarovski invented an automatic crystal cutting machine and then started a new company in Bohemia, Austria. Many of his crystals were used in chandeliers, in beads, jewellery and in accessories, he also put them on fashionable clothing such as shoes, handbags and dresses. Swarovski jewellery is known all over the world as the crystals are made using the finest lead glass and they are then faceted with tremendous precision, creating beautiful prisms and dazzling beauty and it is for this reason that they sparkle like diamonds. Swarovski crystals contain approximately 32% lead and lead oxide. This makes the crystals shine even more by increasing the index of refraction (much like a diamond).
